Maarten Lindeboom was appointed to the Council on 1 January 2024. He is Professor of Economics at VU Amsterdam and Head of the Economics department. He is also a Research Fellow at the Tinbergen Institute. Professor Lindeboom specialises in applied economic research in the field of income (including income inequalities), health and employment and the role played by circumstances in the early phases of life.
Since 2018, he has been a crown-appointed member of the Social and Economic Council of the Netherlands (SER) and a member of the Royal Holland Society of Sciences and Humanities (KHMW). He also edits the Journal of Health Economics.
