Laura Vonk studied sociology at Utrecht University and the University of Amsterdam. After graduating, she worked as a lecturer and (policy) researcher at the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences and the University of Amsterdam. She obtained her PhD for research on the aestheticization of work. In her dissertation, she analyzes the implications of aesthetic regulation for the experiences of workers in the post-industrial Dutch labor market and how aestheticization impacts inequalities within that labor market.
Laura joined the Scientific Council for Government Policy (WRR) in 2023. As a research fellow, she contributed to the advisory project ‘The Netherlands in an Ageing World’ and to the publication ‘Toekomstgericht beleid (in Dutch)’. She is currently involved in the project ‘Meedoen met gezondheidsopgaven’.
