Symposium: The time of our lives

‘The time of our life’ (De tijd van ons leven) is the title of a book by Mieke van Stigt, Gerrit Kronjee and Jan Groeneveld, which was published on 8 October 2009.

Structuring our lives

The book explores problems and solutions in relation to the structuring of our lives. In words and pictures it presents analyses, solution pathways and policy proposals which can help create a better balance in the distribution of tasks and responsibilities over the entire course of a life. Socially, the result is that people mature earlier yet age later. This creates a better balance at different ages between the tasks that have to be fulfilled and the opportunities that are available. This could ultimately benefit both society and the economy, an important consideration in an ageing society.

The time of our life (De tijd van ons leven) was presented during the farewell symposium for Dr. Gerrit Kronjee, who has left the WRR upon reaching retirement age. The speakers at the symposium were Prof. Kees Schuyt, Mieke van Stigt and Dr. Roel.
