'More needed than ever' Evaluation of the Netherlands Scientific Council for Government Policy 2013-2017
The evaluation More needed than ever - Evaluation of the Netherlands Scientific Council for Government Policy 2013-2017 was commissioned by the WRR. After consultation with the Management Board of the Ministry of General Affairs, the WRR appointed the members of the Evaluation Committee. Chair of this committee was Wiebe Bijker. The WRR also drew up the assignment for the Evaluation Committee with a number of key questions about it's performance and the incorporation of previous recommendations. Also the WRR asked the committee what thematic and content issues and/or methodical and professional issues it sees to be important for the future. Other subjects include, the quality of products and workprocesses, impact of policy advice, external communication and contact with government and States-General.
External evaluation committee
The WRR Establishment Act does not include an explicit obligation to conduct a periodic evaluation. Nevertheless, the WRR compiles an evaluation every five years at the end of each Council term since it was founded in 1972. Since 2000 this self-evaluation has been supplemented with findings of an independent external committee (the Rinnooy Kan Committee in 2001, the Van Rooy Committee in 2008 and the Smit Committee in 2013).
